Introducing SDU Elite
After a successful 2023-2024 season with SDU Elite, we have decided to add a Junior Prep team! SDU Elite has proven to be an excellent opportunity for our dancers wanting extra performance experience, so we are excited to add a Junior Prep Elite group. As director and teacher, Ms. Sharon knows that some dancers would love additional performance opportunities. For those dancers who look to be more committed and challenged, we are offering the chance to join SDU Elite. These students will attend conventions in the fall and have an incredible opportunity to take from other skilled and experienced teachers. In the spring, this group will have the opportunity to compete in multiple competitions and attend their conventions. We are so excited to continue on this journey with our amazing dancers!
Mini Elite Competition Team
We are excited to introduce the Mini Elite Competition Team! This group is designed for our younger elementary students wanting extra performance opportunities. This group will participate in a fall convention and a competition in the spring.
Junior Prep Elite Competition Team
We are excited to introduce the Junior/Junior Prep Elite Competition Team! This group is designed for our students ages 9-12 wanting extra performance opportunities. This group will participate in a fall convention and a competition in the spring.
Teen Elite Competition Team
Current SDU Elite members have officially moved into the teen division! We are holding auditions for new members interested in joining this team during the fall. This group will attend a convention in the fall and multiple competitions throughout the spring.
Dates to Know
May 10th: Mandatory Audition Prep Class (You will be learning your audition combo.)
Minis~ 4:30-6:00 P.M.
Junior Prep~ 6:15-7:45 P.M.
May 17th: Mini & Junior Prep Auditions
Minis~ 4:30-6:30 P.M.
Junior Prep~ 6:15-7:45 P.M.
May 18th: Teen Auditions 11:30 A.M. (Audition combo will be taught on the spot)
Audition Information
Auditions to be a part of one of our competition teams will be held on May 17th & 18th, 2024. Dancers entering the second grade through high school may audition. Ms. Sharon and the judges will assign teams based on age and skill level factors. Please email sharonsdu@gmail.com if you are interested in auditioning!
Things to Consider
Rehersals
All of these groups will have special rehearsal times throughout the week. Each team will practice two Saturdays per month, with our older teams having additional practice on alternating weeks. This extra rehearsal time is key in perfecting our dances!
Absence Policy
All dancers will not be allowed more than three absences per competition & convention season [August-March] unless there are extenuating circumstances. Certain absences may be excused by Ms. Sharon, but that is at her entirely discretion.
Class Requirements
All members of this group are required to take five to seven hours of classes, with ballet and technique classes being a requirement [both count towards required hours]. Missing weekly classes may result in the requirement of taking the same class at a lower level.
